Bond Psychometric Tes 1-on-1 training session:

  • Personality Testing

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Testing

  • In-depth Bond-centric Psychometric Tuition

Limited spots left in November, December, January, and February

A 3-hours hours of intensive live online Zoom training with an NIE coach. The session involves an in-depth exploration about the most important psychometric values in medicine and what can be expected during the 2025 Bond Uni Psychometric Test. Sample testing items in Emotional Intelligence and Personality are covered in detail and explored both strategically and in the university admissions context.

Emotional Intelligence testing is difficult to master without specialist support. Whilst these tests are a popular and important part of admitting the most emotionally capable people into a University Medical Program, they are also tests that lend themselves well to practice effects (an increase in overall scores experienced from exposure to test items) – if an applicant is exposed to the right sorts of testing items. Be wary! Exposure to the incorrect testing items has been shown to not only fail in increasing overall scores but also to actively reduce average scores across key areas - namely in one's ability to:

  • Perceive accurate emotions – by paying attention to the decoding of emotional signals across facial features, artistic works, and in appraising emotionally-coded items;
  • Facilitating emotionally-influenced thought – by using cognitive strategies to problem-solve or employ reasoning on topics and tasks that show emotional intelligence capabilities, especially in matters of prioritisation;
  • Understanding effective emotions – by comprehending how they interact with each other to lead to critical emotional journeys over time and between differing parties;
  • Managing emotional information – by remaining rational and appropriate despite being in situations where varieties and consistencies in emotional data change or influence states.

Full Psychometric Training Content (3 hours)

During training, students can expect one-on-one exclusive access to information touching on:

  • What Bond is looking for via their psychometrics
  • The differences between the EQ (Emotional Intelligence) and Personality test
  • The measuring factors of psychometric values in medical applicants
  • Traits vs states – and how to know which characteristics you are presenting
  • How to read the 'real' questions that you are being asked, surface question aside
  • How to be in the correct frame of mind when answering
  • Priming for success
  • When overthinking is good – and when overthinking is catastrophic
  • How to avoid bad practice (and how to recognise when terms such as 'extraversion' are referring to scientific extraversion or social extraversion, and why this distinction is so significant)
  • Why vocabulary matters – including access to the main terms one needs to study that are used exclusively for measuring personality during test construction
  • The 14 personality constructs that Bond University is looking at

Students have the opportunity to answer some test questions that cover:

  • General emotional intelligence
  • Situational Judgement
  • Likert Scales and Multiple Choice (with an exploration of the main 'trap' in Likert scales that see applicants fail)
  • Facial reading (including the in-depth exploration of muscle groups, facial features, hints and tricks that broach the 6 types of facial expressions that people get wrong again and again)
  • Artistic expressions and the four areas to concentrate on
  • Time and emotion
  • Personality constructs and measurements
  • Response items that test for if you are cheating and lying
  • Set exercises that improve scores – in the areas that you personally need the most

Our Unique Approach to Higher Psychometric Scores

When it comes to psychometric training, there is no replacement for high quality, personalised tuition – as these tests are exact measures of quality and personalised attributes. As easy as it would be, there are no "out of the box" solutions or short cuts to acing psychometric tests such as these, and true practice and hard work need to be applied to improve scores. We assist you in guiding that hard work in an intensive 3-hour psychometric coaching session.

Prior to improvement, an applicant needs to first understand what and how they are to improve regarding that aspect, or they will find that improvements in one area penalise them in another. Psychometrics are difficult, but not impossible to master!

The Australian medical entry industry is advanced in its testing capabilities, and these tests involve a high calibre of competition that each student faces. The tests that are used on your big day are prepared by registered psychologists, with measures guided by medical entry specialists, and are processed using advanced technologies and data management techniques that ensure there are no short cuts to step around what the university is trying to determine. The best and cleanest way to improve your psychometric scores is to genuinely improve yourself as a psychometric candidate, and that can only be done with a knowledgeable application, exposure to correct test items, and guided mentoring about how and why your psychological profile affects various data sets in specific ways.

High Quality and Honest Training

At NIE, we retain our premier place as Australia's highest quality provider because our Psychometrics Training programs are run by trained specialists, who have been employed by some of Australia's leading companies. We have been working in the field of specialist university medical admissions for 20 years, and have specialised in Bond University for the past decade, specifically in MMI Training and now, in Psychometrics. Many other psychometrics training programs are alternatively produced by those who have no psychological training, or who are not familiar with medical entry, with unwitting applicants not realising that the types of Emotional Intelligence and Personality Tests issued by Bond University require familiarity with graduate outcomes, program outcomes and industry outcomes.

Beware of any psychometric trainers or scams claiming that their programs are supported by any Australian university. Training will also only improve your scores when it is provided by a trustworthy institute that aligns itself with the authentic aims of each university. This requires time, research, genuine affiliations with the universities and their programs, and a thorough understanding of integrity issues that continue to affect the university entry training industry year after year.

We have been endorsed as an 'Accredited Tutor', and we are also a verified member of ATA, the Australian Tutoring Association. We are recommended by numerous high school careers counsellors throughout the country because of our authentic approach to improving psychometric scores and interview results, and we are contributors to the development of the Child Safe Standards in tutoring that affect the legislations that took effect in 2017. We are the providers of industry-leading manuals on Improving Interview Techniques, and we regularly provide the industry-standard information that guides nationwide career expos and industry guidelines throughout Australasia.

When aspiring medical applicants meet online with one of our specialists, they gain three hours exclusive access to an international leader in the medical entry industry, a chance that they may not have again until they are fully qualified doctors. Our specialists are patient and friendly, however, they also encourage intense preparation and laser-like focus through the intensive training period in order for applicants to be able to access their full potential.

Bond University Medicine Psychometric Test Frequently Asked Questions

(Reference: Majority of the questions below were retrieved from Bond University website, 2024)

Selected applicants (based on their academic achievement) will be invited to participate in psychometric testing as part of the selection process for the Bond Medical Program. The results of the psychometric tests will determine the applicant’s eligibility for an interview.

1. Does my ATAR (used to assess whether I receive an invite for psychometric testing), include any bonus points?

Bonus points are not considered for the Bond Medical Program due to the competitive nature of the program.

2. What happens if I am invited to complete psychometric testing?

If you are successful in gaining an invitation for psychometric testing, you will receive an email from the testing provider requesting that you to book a time to complete your testing under supervision. After booking your appointment for testing, we encourage applicants to complete the recommended technical checks, prior to the day of testing. This will help to reduce technical difficulties on your testing day.

3. How much will the testing cost?

Each candidate will be required to pay, by credit card, for testing. This includes proctoring services, which means a real person will supervise your testing, in real time, via your webcam. The cost for 2024 will be approximately $325.00.

4. What does the psychometric testing look like and what can I expect?

You will complete your assessments under examination conditions. This means you will be supervised via your webcam while you complete the psychometric testing.

Before your appointment time, you should prepare your space for examination conditions (i.e. make sure there are no papers or notes on your desk, that your other electronic devices are out of reach, and other people in your house know not to disturb you while you complete the testing).

5. How many questions will I have to answer?

The testing will require candidates to complete two (2) assessments.

6. How long will the test take?

Most applicants will complete the two (2) tests in around 90 minutes, but you will have a maximum time of two (2) hours to complete the assessments. The 2-hour timer will start when you are given access to the first assessment. The time you spend prior to accessing your first test (i.e. joining with your proctor, verifying identity, checking your environment etc.) is not included in the 2-hour time limit.

7. Can I get a copy of the results for myself?

Interpreting the results of the selected tests requires specific expertise and training. Bond University does not provide individual reports.

8. Are my test results made available to Bond during the selection process?

No. Bond will only receive a list of applicants to be interviewed from the testing body.

9. Is the testing fully online?

Yes, both assessments are available online. Please note that the tests are not compatible with mobile or tablet devices.

Please note: Psychometric testing is online and the MMI interviews are in-person, on campus.

10. What do I need to complete the testing (other than a computer, a credit card and an Internet connection)?

In order for your supervisor to observe you, you will also need a webcam, microphone and speaker as well as access to a strong internet connection. You will need access to a laptop or desktop computer (the tests cannot be completed on a mobile device) with an up-to-date Windows or MacOS operating system. You will need to use an up-to-date version of Google Chrome or Firefox web browser to complete your testing. We suggest you complete a systems check prior to the day of your testing.

You will complete the assessments under examination conditions. This means you will need to clear your space to remove any distractions such as notes, paper, books and other devices (like your mobile phone). Please inform others in your household that you cannot be disturbed to ensure that you are free from interruptions.

11. How long is the testing valid?

The psychometric tests have a 24-month validity window. If you have completed the Psychometric testing prior to February 2022, you are eligible to re-sit the testing.

12. Can I choose to re-sit the testing even if it is current or valid?

No, you will not be able to choose to re-sit the assessment unless you completed psychometric testing prior to February 2022.

13. If I completed psychometric testing for another tertiary institution or for employment, will I need to complete another psychometric testing for my application into Bond University?

Yes.

14. If I completed psychometric testing for my application into Bond University in either 2021 or 2022, would I need to sit the testing again?

If you completed the testing prior to February 2022, you will be required to sit the testing again.

15. If I completed the psychometric testing since February 2022, will I still get an email to notify I have made it the psychometric testing stage for my application into the Bond Medical Program the following year?

If you completed psychometric testing after February 2022, you will not receive the invitation from the testing body. You will, however, receive a direct notification from Bond University advising that you have been selected for psychometric testing and will not need to complete the test.
